چکیده

• Ingenol mebutate gel (Picato® gel, LEO Pharma, Ballerup, Denmark) is a novel topical self-applied treatment for nonhyperkeratotic, nonhypertrophic actinic keratoses in adults. • Picato gel (0.05%) is applied to trunk and extremity lesions for 2 consecutive days, and at lower strength (0.015%) applied to face and scalp lesions for 3 consecutive days. • The mechanism of action is rapid induction of cell necrosis followed by neutrophil-mediated antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity. • Ingenol mebutate is transported via P-glycoprotein, through the epidermis to the subcutis, with no detectable systemic absorption. • Efficacy is broadly similar to alternative field-directed topical treatments, but the treatment regime offers potentially greater effectiveness. • Local skin reactions (erythema, irritation, pruritus and pain) shortly follow completion of applications, reducing by week 2 and resolving by week 4. • There is no evidence of drug interactions, and the mode of treatment minimizes the probability.

The Role of Ingenol Mebutate in the Treatment of Actinic Keratoses

Actinic keratoses (AK) are the most common premalignant pathology seen in dermatological practice and represent a burgeoning burden upon health services. Increasingly recognized is the damage to surrounding, perilesional skin, forming the premise for field-directed therapy. Ingenol mebutate gel is a novel agent for field-directed treatment of AK, requiring only 2 or 3 days of application. Follo...

Clinical Response to Ingenol Mebutate in Patients With Actinic Keratoses.

Cryotherapy is the most common treatment for actinic keratosis, but its effect is limited to individual lesions. Several topical drugs, however, are available that, in addition to treating individual actinic keratoses, target field cancerization and thereby act on subclinical lesions. Examples are 5-fluorouracil, imiquimod, diclofenac, and ingenol mebutate. We report on 17 patients with actinic...

New developments in the treatment of actinic keratosis: focus on ingenol mebutate gel

Actinic keratosis is a common disease in older, fair-skinned people, and is a consequence of cumulative ultraviolet exposure. It is part of a disease continuum in photodamaged skin that may lead to invasive squamous cell carcinoma. Treatment options frequently used include cryosurgery and topical pharmacologic agents, which are examples of lesion-directed and field-directed strategies. Ingenol ...

Evaluation of Ingenol mebutate efficacy for the treatment of actinic keratosis with Antera 3D camera.

OBJECTIVE Cumulative exposure of the skin to ultraviolet radiation promotes mutation in keratinocytes and their abnormal growth led to the formation of scaly lesions, called actinic keratoses (AKs). Its incidence is growing at an emerging rate, becoming a worldwide problem especially for occupational ultraviolet (UV) rays exposure. Detectable lesions are often associated with field changes, wher...
